About Aqeel
Hi, I'm Aqeel, I'm a British expat now living in the Netherlands for over 3 years now. I am an experienced dog owner with over 20yrs experience with ownership of varying numbers from 1-4+ dogs. Currently I have one dogs. One could ask if I have one dogs of my own, why would I want to add more dogs to picture?
Well, first of all I have the experience of handling multiple dogs, one point I had more than 4 dogs back in the days when I was living out in Cornwall, UK. In light of this, I feel confident and assuming the situation is sensible, I am able to walk a pack of dogs and still maintain control of them. I also know my limits and will handle dogs either individually or in smaller groups.
The other reason is I love dogs, I find them incredibly interesting from an observer point of view. I always pay attention to the language that a dog gives when it is in environment. I find it fascinating in a nerd sort of way and enables me to have greater understanding of dogs can behave in different scenarios. I find it particularly useful for my understanding of my two dogs when I learn something new in other.
My experience has been with mid to large breeds. I believe it's important to understand the breed especially so you get an understanding of the behaviours they exhibit. I have walked dogs, looked after dogs belonging to friends as well as helped with the training of others. I believe in the importance of routine and structure but at the same time allowing the dog to experience new things or have time to do if it's engaging them in a healthy and sensible way. I don't believe in negative reinforcements nor believe in using items of extreme impact on dogs.
The last time I did dog care over a long period of time was during lockdown where I volunteered for helping out medical professionals with the care of their dogs whilst they were working hard and was able to help in some training issues. I am also experienced with larger breeds and welcome non aggressive and reasonably behaved dogs with non neutered and spayed dogs.
Our first meeting should involve a meet up in person with an introduction to your dog followed by a dog walk where we can discuss and share info on the dog's behaviour with the surrounding environment
