About Amy
I've been surrounded by animals my whole life, so animals are more than just pets to me they're family. My passion for caring for them started at a young age, and by the time I was 12, I was already dog sitting for neighbors and friends. This has given me a well-rounded skill set in feeding, walking, playing, and administering basic care. I understand that every animal has unique needs and personalities, and I pride myself on tailoring my approach to ensure each one feels comfortable, happy, and well-loved. My goal is to provide the same level of attention and affection that they receive at home, giving you complete peace of mind.
I'm very flexible with walk lengths, usually aiming for 30-60 minutes depending on the dog's energy and needs. For puppies with high energy, I love a good long hike or a play session in the park. For the more laid-back companions, gentle strolls and plenty of cuddles are on the agenda! I understand that some pets can be a little shy or anxious, so I take extra care to create a calm and comforting environment for them. I love sending photo and video updates throughout the day so you can see how happy your pet is!
Home visits typically last around 30 to 45 minutes, ensuring time for feeding, fresh water, bathroom breaks, and playtime. I also like to include a short walk if the pet enjoys them. I'm comfortable with basic positive training techniques and can reinforce commands you've already taught your pet as well as try to teach new ones. I don't use any specialized tools, preferring to rely on patience and positive interaction.
I'm generally available most days, but it's always best to check in with me about specific dates as I'm still a student. In case of any emergencies, I'm prepared to act quickly. Your pet's safety and well-being are my top priority! In the rare event of an emergency I somehow don't have the vet's contact information readily available, I would first try to contact the pet owner directly for guidance. If that's not possible, I would search online for the nearest emergency veterinary clinic or animal hospital. I'd gather any information I could about the pet's symptoms and condition to relay to the veterinary staff. My own first-aid knowledge is for immediate, minor issues, but for anything serious, getting professional veterinary care as quickly as possible is the absolute goal. I'm excited about the possibility of being your trusted sitter and creating wonderful memories for your beloved pets!
