For the past ten years, I have been the devoted caretaker of an elderly pet I affectionately consider my own. While I did not literally bring him into the world, my bond with him is deep, and I understand the difficulty of leaving such companions alone at times. However I also know we all seek respite from the
Belgian sun occasionally. 

I share certain traits with cats, taking time to warm up to people, and in my experience, most cats and dogs value the respect they are shown. This mutual understanding is likely why I connect
well with them, though I cannot say the same for fish. 

My motivation stems from the joy and comfort I find in the presence of animals—whether smelling cats or petting dogs—while earning a bit of extra income. In addition to caring for my own companion, I occasionally walk friends’ dogs and spend time playing with their cats. I know enough cat behaviour to know when there might be a potential emergency. I also know how to wrap a cat and feed pills if need be.
