Top cities for house sitting in Belgium

Are you going away but have a pet that prefers to stay in their own environment? Or perhaps you have a range of different animals and it’s not practical for you to organise for them to stay in different places? Then you might want to consider finding a Pawshake house sitter to come and stay at your Juprelle home while you are away.

House sitting is a convenient and affordable option when you have multiple pets and also want your house to be securely looked after while you are away. Many of our pet sitters have very reasonable house sitting rates because they enjoy staying and exploring different local neighbourhoods like Juprelle.

At Pawshake, we understand that trusting your home to a stranger can be a little daunting. So we’ve done all the hard work to ensure that your Pawshake house sitter is trustworthy and reliable. All our pet sitter profiles are checked individually by our dedicated trust and safety team and some house sitters also have their own police checks which they can share with you.

The best thing about engaging a Pawshake verified house sitter is that you can relax knowing that on top of being covered by The Pawshake Guarantee which includes veterinary coverage, so your pets are being cared for in a familiar environment and your Juprelle home is also being looked after as well.

In addition to looking after your pets, most of our house sitters will happily help you by collecting your mail, taking out the bins, and watering your plants. Just make sure you discuss all your requirements with your chosen house sitter prior to booking.

Growing up surrounded by animals, from dogs and cats to chickens, goats, rabbits, and guinea pigs, caring for pets has always been second nature to me. Whether it's a playful pup, a curious cat, or even a tiny hamster like the one I currently have in Maastricht, I genuinely enjoy spending time with all kinds of animals and learning what makes each one feel safe and happy.

Back home, I have one beloved dog and cat, Coco and Poutchi, who live with my family. I miss them every day, which is probably why I treat every animal I meet with the same love and attention I’d give them. I’m comfortable with a wide range of animals, big and small, shy or energetic, and I’m more than happy to adapt to their specific needs.

Walks can be short and chill or longer and full of adventure, depending on what your pet enjoys! I love making them fun with little games, sniff stops, or light playtime if they’re up for it. If your pet needs medication or extra care, I’m also happy to help with that, just let me know.

Whether you're looking for someone to take your dog for a walk, check in on your cat, or simply give your pet some attention while you’re away, I’ll make sure they feel loved, relaxed, and well looked after. The bond goes both ways, after all.

Hi! My name is Clara and I a recent graduate from Maastricht University. I am a barista at a specialty coffee place and I recently started volunteering at an animal shelter. I love crafts, specially knitting and crocheting.
Ever since I was little, I’ve always wanted to have a dog. My parents then decided to get a cat and I then fell in love with cats as well. Now I have both a cat and a dog of my own and I’ve never been happier. My dog, Charlie, is 14 years old now so I have some experience with senior dogs. My cat, Pucci, on the other hand, is barely a year old, so I’m also used to very active animals with more demanding needs.
I just started pet sitting for other people a few months ago and it has been so fulfilling. Since I don't have the possibility yet of adopting more pets of my own, it's really the perfect opportunity to get to take care of more pets. And plus, I just love the company they offer.
I moved into a new house with a great garden a couple of months ago, which is the perfect place for your dog to get some fresh air and have fun. I also have a wonderful couch where we could cuddle or play together. And of course we will be going on lots of walks! There are a couple of dog friendly parks around my neighborhood, which is perfect!
I hope I can help you out with your pets, it would be my pleasure!

Hello dear pet parents!
My name is Colby, I'm from California, and I'm currently doing my Master's in Sustainability at Maastricht University.
I grew up with dogs and cats in the house, and spent a lot of time at my grandfather's farm. When I was older, I volunteered at an animal sanctuary for almost six years, taking care of, training, and rehabilitating wild animals. I've worked with dogs and cats of course, but also ferrets, bunnies, and a variety of (exotic) birds in addition to wild animals. Overall, I have a very strong love and passion for taking proper care of animals (though hopefully your cats aren't as messy as Bengal tigers! )
For dogs: I would like to stick to the routine you already use: your leash and harness, your usual route (unless otherwise requested), and no off-leash time unless you've told me it's okay. I find that dogs are much more comfortable this way, even if someone new is walking them. I always bring water and poop bags, check for hot pavement depending on the season, and let older or lower-energy dogs set the pace.
For cats: I follow your feeding schedule and portions, refresh water, and can scoop the litter box every visit if needed. I also let you know if something is off, like whether they're actually eating, whether the litter box looks normal.
I'm comfortable giving medication on schedule and following special diets as you've set them up, though I don't do injections. Before the first visit ask where everything lives: food, meds, carrier, leash.
Clear communication matters a lot to me. You'll get photos and a short message after every visit, and I'm happy to do a quick video call if you'd like to see them yourself.
Here in Maastricht I unfortunately don't have any animals of my own to take care of, but I would be happy to take care of yours! Every animal has their own way of communicating and their own individual needs, so before meeting your pet I'd love a quick chat about how you'd like me to speak to, move around, and interact with him or her (plus any quirks, fears, or habits I should know about). I can feed, walk, play with, or simply keep your pet company!

I'm Leonie, 24 years old and from Germany.
I do understand Dutch but am limited in my speaking skills.
I'm studying psychology and as it's a full time studies, I'm studying a lot and am in class a lot. For that reason I want to get a balance in my life which I want to combine with dogs and going on a walk. I have always been in love with the nature and gods and wouldn't mind going with dogs for a long walk. I am an animal lover, in particular dogs. They show and feel emotions which is a comforting zone for me, personally.
I haven't had a dog myself but I walked and spent time with dogs of my friends and family (as seen in the attached photos) therefore I know what to look out for and how to take care of them. Furthermore, I've cat and dog sat already here on Pawshake for more than a year now.
Preferably, I cant take your dog at my place because my landlord has his strict rules about that place. Generally, I don't mind whether the dog is vaccinated or not.

Lulu

Je parle Français. Ik spreek Nederlands . I've always taken care of my family's pet since I was a kid. Sometimes I take care of my best friend's dog in Hasselt and a friend's cat in Liège whenever they need to travel for some days. I now live in Liège with my boyfriend and his dog, Archie, a playful and energetic Australian shepherd. I love doing long walks with our dog in the forest, playing, petting, and taking care in general. I can also administer any medical treatment if necessary. I also love spending time taking care of and playing with my friends' cats. Available for walks in Liège and nearby cities. Also available to the day care in more cities.

I have a very flexible schedule now and can adapt pretty easily to take care of your pet with patience and attention, and of course, love.

Hello! My name is Marissa and I love being a petsitter. With more than five years of experience caring for animals of all personalities, ages, medical needs, and backgrounds, my passion for pet sitting grew naturally from a lifelong love of animals and a desire to create a safe, calm, and joyful environment for them when their owners are away. Over the years, I’ve worked with everything from high-energy puppies to elderly pets who need gentle routines, as well as anxious or rescue animals who require extra patience and understanding.
What motivates me most is the trust that forms between a pet, their owner, and a petsitter. I often petsit for the same families every month, and I love the collaboration and trust that grows over time. I believe every animal deserves the best life possible, so I take time to learn each pet’s habits, fears, and favorite comforts. Whether your dog thrives on long walks or your cat prefers a stay-at-home friend, I enjoy adapting my time with your pet to what suits them best. I enjoy walking, so I would love to take your pet on lovely walks around the city, long or short, if that's what they enjoy too. I would prefer petsitting animals who are fully-vacinated.
Communication is extremely important to me, so I always keep owners updated with thoughtful check-ins where needed, and also offer house-sitting services and include any updates to your home if relevant when you are away. My goal is to give your pet a safe and loving environment, leaving you assured and at ease to enjoy your time away from your pet.
I would love to connect and see how I can help you with your pet!

Hi! I’m from Turkey and currently living in the Netherlands for my studies. Back home in my family house, I’ve taken care of both dogs and cats, and I loved every moment with them — from playtime and cuddles to making sure they were fed, safe, and happy. Since moving here, I’ve really missed having them around, which is why I’d love to spend time caring for other pets.I might not have “professional” pet-sitting experience, but I truly believe what matters most is patience, kindness, and genuine love for animals. I know how important it is to feel your pet is safe and cared for while you’re away. I'm looking forward to meeting some furry friends, whether it’s going for a walk, giving belly rubs, or simply keeping them company at mine place or iether your place. For safety, I only accept vaccinated pets.

I’ve loved dogs for as long as I can remember. When I was little, I was so obsessed that I used to hand my toy dogs to my dad so he could walk ahead of me, just so I could pretend I was walking them myself. I’ve grown up surrounded by family friends’ dogs and have spent most of my formative years learning everything about them. I think I have grown to understand how to read their behaviour, body language and personalities.
My own dog was brought into our home as a result of my persuasion and pestering over 11 years of my life and so once we got him, I have been very actively involved in his life. He is a very lively cocker spaniel-poodle mix so I’m used to energetic dogs who need both mental and physical stimulation. I’m also experienced with older, slower and more sensitive dogs who need patience, calmness and extra care having looked after our friends' old labrador for the last five years of his life. On walks, I make sure dogs get the right balance of exercise, sniffing time and engagement, adjusting the pace depending on age, fitness and confidence levels. Nervous dogs are always given space, reassurance and calm guidance, while more energetic ones benefit from structure, recall practice and playful interaction. Over the years I’ve also cared for older and more sensitive dogs, ensuring gentler walks and plenty of comfort. I’ve regularly looked after dogs for friends and family, including golden retrievers, labradors and whippets, so I’m confident in adapting to different breeds and needs. I love seeing how different dogs have such different personalities and getting to understand them better. Additionally, I am an active person myself, loving the outdoors and I miss my own dog greatly when at university; dog sitting is the perfect opportunity to give the care and attention I am used to giving to my own dog to yours!
When house sitting, safety and routine come first. I make sure to maintain feeding schedules, keep environments secure, and make sure dogs are never left unsupervised in unfamiliar situations. I prioritise calm handling, secure lead walking, name-tag checks and awareness of surroundings when outdoors.
My motivation for pet sitting is simple: I genuinely love spending time with dogs, and I want owners to feel completely at ease knowing their pets are happy, safe and loved. I treat every dog as if they were my own, and I’m committed to making their time with me positive and stress-free. Dogs are incredible at reading human emotions and body language which is why they are such great companions and I am passionate about giving them the best company in return. Moreover, I understand that dogs often function on routine and therefore I am happy to follow any routines you already have in place.
I offer both dog walking and house sitting, and I’m always happy to dedicate the time, energy and attention needed to make sure your dog is comfortable and cared for.

Hi! My name is Ashley, and caring for animals is truly at the heart of who I am. With years of hands-on experience as a pet transportation and care specialist, I’ve built my career around ensuring pets feel safe, loved, and stress-free—whether they’re traveling across the country or settling in for a cozy stay.My passion for pet sitting stems from a deep respect for the bond between pets and their people. I know how important it is to leave your furry family member in trusted hands, and that’s exactly what I strive to offer. Every pet in my care is treated like my own—with patience, kindness, and attention to their unique needs.I’m trained in Pet CPR, First Aid, and medication administration, and I do require that pets be up to date on vaccinations to keep everyone safe. Whether it’s walks, playtime, or cuddle sessions, I’m here to provide reliable, loving care you can count on. My services range from local pet sitting, dog walking, pet transportation and relocation, to overnight care with the use of Tractive GPS trackers so you know where your pet is at all times whether that be down the street for a walk or across the country, you have access to real time tracking of your furry (or furless!) family member. I have worked with breeders since 2017 to safely transport pets from California to Florida and across the United States to their new homes.
